Bottom Line: Table It! is an amazing app like none I’ve ever seen. Along with 34 editable sample tables, the user can make an unlimited number of tables to organize any information desired. Make a table schedule, organize information from history class, make a data set in math, create a table for personal information or even their special interests. It’s unlimited in ability to create, and is my favorite new app on the market in a long time.

Bottom Line: A pair of apps that are perfect tools for teachers in schools that have an iPad for every student. The teacher app allows teachers to create classes, record grades, organize resources and more. The student app allows students to, among other things, take notes, answer polls, and engage with others. Geared toward middle and high school students. And both apps are FREE!

This year, for the first time ever, I have the opportunity to stay home with my kids over summer break. I'm thrilled about all the opportunities for fun and excitement, but I am also a little bit concerned about them losing any academic momentum that they have right now while they are on my watch. You know what that means? That means we'll be having a little bit of Mom Summer School. The kids are stoked (well, stoked might be a strong word) about Momschool, and I am looking for ways to make things simpler (and to help me run something resembling an actual classroom) by using some of the technologies that my son is so in love with. He'll try out almost anything on the iPad.
So I thought this would be a good time to update Jill's old list of the Top Ten Awesome Free Apps for the Classroom. I've gone in and removed some that weren't free or no longer existed from the old list and updated it with a few of my own. Lesson planning: The essential part of teaching that takes up a lot of time and paperwork when it is completed in a way that is beneficial for teachers, administrators, and students.
It seems that every district and every administrator has different requirements for how lesson plans are written, so it is difficult to find apps that work strictly for writing YOUR lesson plans, but I have some ideas for apps that can help through the lesson planning process.
