Toca Boca has a new app! Toca Life: Farm is packed with rule-free, pretend play, and even more packed full of fun! There are so many different aspects of farm life to explore, from taking care of the animals to to selling home grown items at a farmer's market. Kids can even dress up characters in Halloween costumes.

New FREE speech articulation apps!

Today I stumbled on two new apps in the App Store, both FREE, for practicing speech sounds! Speedy Speech just released Speedy Speech-S and Speedy Speech-R, both free with in app purchases for additional sounds. I haven't even been able to do more than download it and try it out, but it looks like another great option. And of course, having some content for FREE is a great way to try out the app with no commitment. This is a great feature for speech-language pathologists. 

Great app for junior firefighters! Check out Fireman Sam — Junior Cadet

I know many preschoolers who love firefighters, and this app looks like a great way for them to learn while pretending to be a firefighter. There are six learning games, designed just for younger players. It's really a great pick for both learning and entertainment. But don't take my word for it — you can watch Ellie's excellent demo video. Her videos are the best available, and let you have a peek into the app and its play before you download it!

Review: Exploring Careers has potential, but needs some tweaks to make it the best it can be

 

 

Bottom Line: Although Exploring Careers presents ten career opportunities — such as artist, doctor, firefighter and chef — in a gender-equal manner, it falls dreadfully short in presenting good grammar, and the hands-on activities are hit-and-miss. With some tweaking by the developer and some kid-testing, updates can make this app a better value.
