Bottom line: My Little Princess: Castle is the brand new game from the creators of the My Town apps. Visit a world of princesses and knights and explore all of the hidden fun in the castle.

My Little Princess: Castle takes users to a world of princesses and princes to explore and play in a medieval castle filled with interactive surprises. The My Town folks have taken their interactive dollhouse back in time, giving us knights and ladies and a world filled with magical wonders.
The format is a lot like what we've come to expect from the My Town Apps, with a virtual play world containing interchangeable characters and multiple rooms to play in. Each area is filled with interactive elements and occasional surprises. We're introduced to some new characters to play with and develop stories about, though with this being the first app in the new series the number of characters did appear to be a little more limited that we were used to.
In My Little Princess: Castle there are plenty of places to play, including a bedroom for the little princess and little prince, a grown up bedroom for the king and queen, and a marvelous bath with stained-glass windows. Visit a rustic kitchen to prepare food or dine in the great hall. Throw a costume ball and dance the night away with some funky music from the jukebox (that's right, I said jukebox). Have tea on the rooftop terrace and go for a hot air balloon ride.
What castle would be complete without a dungeon? Kids can visit this dungeon full of magical supplies fit for a wizard. There was a witch in the dungeon cell when we first visited, but we let her out so she might be setting spells on everyone now. Our dungeon also has a vault full of the royal crowns and jewels (which our witch may or may not now be in possession of).
This royal playworld is full of things to do, and while it has a familiar feel, the developer has given us the beginnings of a new realm to play in with plenty of options for growth. There are new characters to play with and enough new things to play with that I'm still discovering new surprises each time I play.
- A fresh, new location and characters to play with.
- Lots of surprises to play with in each scene.
What I liked less:
- I found that I was experiencing some "brand-new app" issues with this one. There were times when items would disappear behind others or things wouldn't stay where I put them. I also found that I had an issue with the app just shutting down on me that was only solved with uninstalling and re-installing. These kind of problems are often growing pains that we would expect the developer to find and fix fairly quickly.
- There were a lot of modern items all through the app (a television, a jukebox, etc.). I wish that they would remove these and find replacements that were a little more in keeping with the era.
Overall, I found this to be a nice new app from the developer that gives them a lot more room to expand. While the app was delightful, I was a little concerned with the glitches that I experienced. I hope they'll get these things fleshed out pretty quickly. Four stars.
