My Town: Museum lets your child explore and play in all of the exhibits in this virtual museum. How many times would you have liked to do that in real life? There are no hands-off rules here as players tour the museum exploring every nook and cranny. As usual with the my town apps, there are interactive elements throughout to keep things exciting.
My Town: Museum allows users to explore in ancient Egypt, finding mummies in their coffins and looking at jewels under glass. Kids just might find a use for those jewels if they explore long enough. In Medieval times, little adventurers can garb themselves in armor and take part in a jousting tournament. Little explorers can find hieroglyphic writing in a Prehistoric caves.
There are multiple exhibits to explore:
- Space Exploration - visit the control center of a spaceship on the moon and look out the window at a view of the earth.
- Medieval Times - Take part in a medieval feast and compete in a jousting tournament
- Prehistoric Times - Dig for fossils and explore a cave setting.
- Ancient Egypt - Discover mummies and secret precious gems.
- Main Gallery - Help recreate precious works of art by assembling jigsaw puzzles.
- Gift Shop - Buy souveniers and costumes in the gift shop.
- and more!

There were several things about this app that were new to me in playing the My Town apps. It appears now that when you exit all the way out of the app the elements don't reset, which is nice if you have to take a break. The menu is re-designed (more about that later.) There's a fun new multi-touch feature that makes it possible for two people to play together.
- This was another new My Town app that feels fresh and unique. The situational quality of these apps just keeps improving.
- As always, I love stress-free, free play apps that encourage children to use their imaginations.
- The details in this app were well thought out with greater continuity between scenes.
- The characters were unique and appropriate for all of the exhibits in the museum.
- One of my longstanding complaints of clothing being strictly gender pacific does not seem to be an issue in this app. It appears that you can dress anybody in whatever you want.
- This is not a complaint, just an observation. The menus have been redesigned some, so there was not quite the same familiarity to the handling. In particular, it appears that characters are separated out by age and gender now rather than being presented as one large group. For some reason I found it a bit tedious.
- All of the exhibits had to be "broken into" before you could use the items or clothes. While it might seem a little amusing, I really just thought it set a bad example and I kind of kept waiting for security to show up. I'd have liked it better if everything had been open and free.
- As with previous My Town apps I have used, I still had difficulty making things "stick" sometimes. Particularly in this app, I had trouble getting people to grab things. You have to be very precise.
Overall, My Town: Museum is a welcome addition to the My Town collection. I'm really pleased with the direction that this developers apps are continuing to take. Perhaps they are finding their niche. I'm giving this app 4.5 stars!
