My Town: Cars has the same format as the other virtual play apps in the My Town collection. The selection of cars allows players the option to choose the types of vehicles and favorite colors that best suits their moods. There's even a multitude of characters to bring the story to life.
There are seven different settings for the adventure to take place:
Cruise the streets of the town, and interact with many characters. Be careful, and watch out for pot holes, nails and other road hazards. If you do encounter any of these things, no worries, you can call the tow truck!
Car Wash - If your car gets dirty go right ahead and take it to the local car wash down the street. Just activate the car wash, run the control panel, fill up the soap, and you’re good to go!
Car Garage - Did the engine break? Or maybe a scratch on the paint? Did a tire go flat? Bring the car down to the local mechanic, where all of these things can be fixed!
Auto Parts Store - If you’re looking to customize your vehicle, then the auto parts store is where to buy custom rims, new spray paint and other things to personalize the vehicle!
Gas Station - Running low on fuel? The gas station will have you ready to go with a gas attendant on hand for interaction and to fill your tank. You’ll be up and cruising the streets again in no time!
EZ Mart - This store has all of the typical convenience store products that are all ready to interact. From multiple car scents, bobble heads and a race car driver uniform to hot dogs, candy and other snacks!
Car Dealership - If selling cars is your thing then this is the place to do it! The car dealership is also where you receive your first car, with the ability to choose your favorite color.
What I liked:
I enjoyed the freedom to play with no restrictions, which allows the child endless playtime. Another feature I liked was the option to choose the character or car to interact with that I wanted. It’s great that there are very few limitations when it comes to this game.
What I liked less:
I did feel that the game had little to no direction at all. The player enters the game without a clue as to what to do or even where to even get a car. Each location was difficult to figure out, especially for my five year old. For example, the car garage took several trials and errors to find out how to fix the automobile. I’m not quite sure how a three year old is supposed to figure out that the diagnostic machine scanner that is required to identify the problem of the vehicle.
This game needs a little more direction in order for children to utilize the app to its full extent and stay interested without getting bored.
