Have you seen all of those gorgeous lunch box pictures? Compared to the peanut butter sandwiches I squish together in the mornings, they look like five star dining. Now there is help for parents like me in the form of LaLa Lunchbox. In this colorful and easy to use app, kids get to scroll through pictures of food and add items to their lunch boxes for every day of the week. After kids make their choices, parents have a grocery list and can feel confident that lunch won't get tossed or traded.

"Mom, don't put that in my lunch again." How many times have you heard that after trying something new in your child's lunch? You'll never have to hear that again after letting the kids choose what they want to pack. From here on out, they just don't pick that item anymore and you don't have to play a guessing game. With LaLa Lunchbox, parents create lunchbox characters for each of their kiddos and kids get to pick a cute and wacky monster avatar. When the avatar is clicked, the magic happens. One to eight items can be added to a day of lunch and consist of fruits, vegetables, snacks and protein. The only limit is the number of items total so if little Johnny wants four fruits, a snack and a protein, then that's totally fine!
Here's how it works. Once the lunchbox is open, children click on one of the four food categories, then scroll through the photos. When a food is chosen, the monster eats it to add it to the lunchbox. Changes are easy to make by simply dragging unwanted foods back down to the menu. To see a list of what was chosen, click the icon above and each food item is listed with text, picture and symbol identifying what food group it falls into. Lunch boxes can be copied and favorite lunches can be chosen for easy planning. Even better is the ability to plan lunches weeks and months ahead of time. Need inspiration? LaLa Lunchbox has linked to its Pinterest posts chock-full of delicious ideas straight from the app.
In the weekly grocery list section, parents get a condensed list that combines all the lunch boxes and days together. Users can also share their meals via social media and email. For parents that want to go that extra mile, they can even download a separate LaLa Breakfast app and then sync the apps together for double the meal-planning ease. Here are some key features that LaLa Lunchbox wants you to know about:
1. Monsters and lunch boxes can be customized by kids.
2. Includes an extensive, completely customizable library of fruits, veggies, proteins & snacks.
3. Always updated, easy-to-use grocery shopping list.
4. One click sync between multiple iOS devices.
5. Parental control over food choices and lunchbox sizes.
6. Easily save any meal to a library of favorites.
7. Easily share favorite meals with friends via Twitter, Facebook, and email.
For just $1.99 meal planning has become fun and easy!
