Now that we are firmly entrenched in summer at our house, my troops are getting a bit resistant to my stealthy techniques to keep their brains in learning mode. As in the past, I've found that if they can play it on an iPad they are willing to overlook the fact that it is educational. So, I've been on a quest for word games to help keep the little minds at my house active, and today I'm sharing the top ten on my list with you.

Word Mess
Jenni gave Word Mess four stars when she reviewed it, and I agree that it is an excellent word game to challenge young minds. We've already made great use of this app on our latest road trip, it kept my newly-turned-nine-year-old tuned in and occupied (and not asking how much longer it would be until we got there.)
Word Mess is fun for word enthusiasts of all ages! But it is specifically great for kids in middle school as it boosts spelling, word recognition and general knowledge. It is also being used in special education programs and by occupational therapists.
