If you were a kid during the 90's you probably grew up loving Bill Nye the Science Guy. His quirky personality, comedy skits and musical incorporation had kids craving his weekly dose of science lessons that would otherwise bore when introduced to them in the form of a text book. This week I was happy to discover I can now relive part of my childhood with the help of Netflix which has just picked up season 1 of Bill Nye the Science Guy!
Bill Nye is just one of the educational channels on Netflix that I use for my children. Below is a small list of other educational shows on Netflix that my kids and I love along with a short description and a preview link. Your kids will be happy to supplement their summer studies with these Netflix offers.
(Note: At the date this article was published - May 20th 2015 - all the listed shows were available for viewing on Netflix. Show/movie offerings on Netflix change on a regular basis and may or may not be available for viewing at any other future date.)

Planet Earth - It's not every day my kids enjoy a documentary but BBC's Planet Earth is full of beautiful footage that even the youngest viewers can appreciate.

Brain Games - Brain Games is not only an educational show about how the human brain works, it's also interactive featuring optical illusions and tests throughout it's episodes. My only warning is to be careful of the beginning of Season 2 Episode 3 "Don't Be Afraid". The intro had my kids running out of the room screaming and it even startled me. Other than that one incident our whole family loves this show and my 6 year old loves participating in the games.
