Dinosaur Chess was one of the first apps that Ron loved, way back when he first started Smart Apps For Kids all by himself. In February 2011, he called it an "absolutely must-have educational app" and made it one of the inaugural Top Picks. It was one of the first apps my now-10 year old loved, too.

If my kids had to rely on me to learn chess, they'd be in trouble! While I know enough about chess to be able to understand literary references, my siblings and I just made up our own rules for the game. (And surprisingly, not so many adults want to play chess with "house rules.")

Thankfully, we have learn-to-play chess games, my skilled husband, and wonderful apps like Dinosaur Chess. It's a great, systematic way to teach even preschool children the rules of the game. Hmmm, maybe it's time I try the app out to teach myself the real rules!
