I’ll have y’all know that I was Kindle-resistant for the longest time. I fancied myself a “book purist” and vowed to continue to read only traditional printed books. I always had a dog-eared paperback in my purse and two or three books on the nightstand (along with a flashlight for middle-of-the-night-don’t-want-to-wake-up-my-husband reading). I was resolute. And I was more than a little snooty about it.

Then I got my first iPad, and I realized that if I used the Kindle app I could not only keep whatever random book I was reading with me at all times, but I could also always have the entire Harry Potter collection along with the LOTR trilogy IN MY PURSE. When I discovered that Amazon offers tons of free books for Kindle every day, it was like I hit the lottery. Not only are there lots of great kids’ books (see Heather’s post from yesterday), but you can also find free books on just about any subject you care to read about. From fluffy beach reads to War and Peace, from cookbooks to Shakespeare’s sonnets, there is something for everyone.

I’ve picked five books to share with you today; I have no particular theme except that I love to read (and cook and craft and watch movies . . .).
