This is an amazing app! Constantly pestered with the question, "What's inside x" by my eldest daughter when she was 4 or 5, this would have answered a lot of her questions. Smart Microscope has over 70 slides to examine, covering objects such as a bee sting, pine cones, a chicken feather, blood and more. Smart Microscope has a free lite version you can try, as well as a web version you can access by subscription (see demo via link below). Fascinating for older children, and very useful for educators, this app is a must download.

The opening screen presents a choice of six categories to choose from: Featured, Humans/Mammals, Insects/Spiders, Other Animals, Plants/Fungi and Single-celled Organisms. Within each category, are up to 26 slides to choose from, giving high definition, high magnification images of the object being examined. I could not find exactly what magnification was given, each slide would be different, depending on the object i.e. a foot would not have the same magnification as a single cell amoeba. Each slide is labeled with points of interest, for example, white blood cells in human blood or barbs on a chicken feather.
