(UPDATE: I updated mybookshelf's rating to reflect the FREE version.)
mybookshelf features six original children's books in one app: Mrs. McGee's Coconut, Panda-Monium!, A Little Bit of Love, The Dancing Clock, My Favorite Michael (my kids' favorite of the six) and The Ice Cream King.
There is full version ($3.99) that includes all six books and a free version that includes Mrs. McGee's Coconut and has in-app options to upgrade to the full version or buy other stories individually for 99 cents. The four star rating is for the free version. Free ebook!
What's There: The app features the standard read-to-me and read-by-myself options, although I think it would be better if these were set in a settings menu instead of as each books starts. The books are all nicely illustrated and narrated. Since ebooks generally sell for $2.99 up each, six stories for $3.99 is a good price.
What's Not: There is no animation, sound effects/music or user interaction. The words are not highlighted when read or read when pressed, nor is there an option for either.
Comparisons: mybookshelf reminds me of MeeGenius, a similar non-animated/non-interactivity ebook app, that includes the highlighted-words capability I really like and comes with six albeit shorter books for free. There is also TouchyBooks for Kids, which is far more advanced in terms of interactivity and comes with two free books.
I recommend downloading the free/lite version, enjoying the free book (we like free) and deciding from there if you'd like to buy the full app or any of the other individual books for 99 cents each.
