Role-playing is an important part of any child's development and My PlayHome, a modern-day, super-interactive dollhouse, provides an excellent opportunity for children to role-play on the iPad.

The hand-drawn environment of My PlayHome looks terrific, but the beauty of the app is in the details: Just about everything in the house is interactive: The appliances and plumbing really work! (Lily had a good laugh putting the entire family in the shower.)
Doors open and close. It gets darker in the rooms when the lights are turned off. With the help of the child, the characters (Mom, Dad and three kids) can do things such as eat, sleep and brush their teeth. For example, when the child puts an apple in front of a character's mouth, it disappears in bites.
MyPlayHome ($2.99) also provides children with an idea of what it's like to be a parent, including preparing meals and finding children jumping on their beds.
Lily and E both thoroughly enjoyed testing of the app, although Lily was not quite as enamored with it as she was with iMommy, a somewhat similar app. If they ever add a baby to My PlayHome, watch out...
My biggest issue with the app is one that no longer exists. It was originally released without a Dad. (We get no respect...) I was assured by the developer, however, that this was due only to time constraints.
Dad arrived in the first update and there are plans to add additional rooms and yard areas and the ability to chose different ethnicities without any additional cost. The latter will be especially nice.
I recommend My PlayHome and highly recommend at least trying out the free trial version. The app really pushes the envelope on iPad/iPhone interactivity.
